Steve Cloutier's is a Minnesota guitarist/singer/ songwriter. Curious House, his second recording on his own Raspberry Hill label. The one-hour CD contains 16 Steve Cloutier originals that run the gamut of style and texture. Seven of the songs are vocals and nine are instrumentals that blend elements of jazz, folk, pop, classical and new age music.

"What makes this collection 'curious' is partly due to the fact that it was recorded using only three guitars -- an acoustic, a digital and an electric," Cloutier explained. "With my digital guitar, I can synthesize a large variety of sounds. Many of the sounds I've chosen to use on this CD are reminiscent of traditional acoustic instruments such as: flute, piano, bass, strings, trumpet, sax, banjo, and accordion, but always keeping the acoustic guitar and voice as the focal point." At times, Curious House sounds more like a whole orchestra of musicians rather than one guy with a guitar, recording one part at a time. The only other instrument used was Mike Hildebrandt's violin in one song as well as Barbara Piper's background vocals in three others.

In addition to his personal recordings on CD, Cloutier has composed music for other purposes: background music for a spoken word CD, radio theme music, scores for his films and the films of others. His instrumental music is available to film and television productions through ScoreKeepers. Some of hsi music has been used in The Amazing Race (CBS), Famous (A&E) and other television programs.
