Accordianist Doris Nessett, of Doris & The Sidekicks, was born in Hibbing, Minnesota to a Finnish mother and a Swedish father. She learned how to play the accordian from her father, and the Finnish words to numerous songs from her mother.
At age 10, Doris discovered taking lessons were not for her and decided to learn her songs by ear. She started "Doris & The Sidekicks in the 1960's. Her daughter Sandra Turja played guitar and sang with her for many years. Doris has performed with Doris & The Sidekicks at various venues throughout northern Minnesota.
