Folk singer/songwriter Eunice Collette has been putting words to music as long as she can remember, although she has only recently begun to share her songs with a wider audience. She attributes this new desire to sing out to a midlife transformation which included a pilgrimage to Denmark. She discovered the roots of her musical heritage in this land where music making is a part of everyday life and a survival skill to liven up the long gray days of winter.
She remembers her grandmother playing and singing Danish hymns by ear on her little organ, and falling asleep every night to her mother playing the piano. Her mother wrote prolifically about her family history, which has become rich fodder for Eunice's songwriting.
Her recent CD, True North, includes several songs about her family heritage. Nature is another inspiration to Eunice's songwriting as well as the spiritual journey. Her soulful lyrics speak to the heart about awakening to life's call, living authentically from the inside out and following your own True North. Eunice has two children and lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
