George FaberAudiophile fave and Midwestern blues ace harp player George Faber's first music lessons came from hearing the songs his older brother loved – the Drifters, Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson. An early singing and harmonica lesson came as a teenager in Champaign, Illinois. When McKinley Morganfield – aka Muddy Waters – was rumored to be recuperating in the hospital there, George used it as a stroke-of-luck chance to get a few pointers from his musical hero. His next encounter with the blues legend came years later on stage at Kingston Mines in Chicago. "Son, you’ve improved," he noted.

Inspiration from performing with other musical heroes – from Lowell George to Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart to Junior Wells – deepened George’s desire to make his own name in the business. Working with many talented bandmates – each one bringing something to keep the excitement level high – kept the creative sparks flying through the years. From his early days performing with a boa constrictor at rock festivals to leading a 16-piece band at corporate events, the obvious pleasure he takes in his music has maintained through decades of writing and performing his songs. There were notable brushes with fame: the video with his band Stronghold that ran on the early days of MTV, music awards including Chicago’s Illinois Entertainer of the Year, packing clubs in Memphis and New Orleans, the call from Rick Nielsen offering George the lead vocalist position in his then new band Cheap Trick, and favorable reviews in Rolling Stone, Playboy and Billboard.

A veteran of the Chicago blues scene, George Faber continued his musical journey touring with live performances, and recording with music legends such as Lowell George and Paul Barrere from Little Feat. His music has evolved with blues, Americana, modern folk and rock inluences.Faber's hometown newspaper said,"his songs transmit the longing of a soul singer mixed with the honesty of a modern-day singer/songwriter."

His recent recordings have been highly acclaimed in the audiophile community nationally and internationally. FI Magazine reviewed his work as "intensely soulful, passionate and hard-driving with strong, powerful melodies" adding "his rough-hewn, gritty voice is the perfect vehicle for his down-to-earth songs."

George Faber - Wounded Sky
Wounded Sky
No mater who you are, there will likely be something on this album that will strike a chord. Faber's newest release is a collection of original songs -- kind of like short stories set to some evocative music. Somewhat universal, yet at the same time, personal. Strong, yet sensitive. The style defies easy categorization, but elements of blues, jazz, roots-rock, folk and alt-country are felt. There's an unexpected variety which can keep the listener engaged through a few unpredictable moments. Wounded Sky was recorded and produced at Lighthouse Records, and thanks to the musical genius of Tim Snow, the songs were brought to life and recorded with great care.

George Faber - Circle Around A Circle
Circle Around A Circle
Faber's newest release is an eclectic CD of original material, with music that hits you right where you live. The songs are introspective, thoughtful and poetic, delivered with soulful vocals in an acoustic style - while highlighting virtuosic musical guests that bring texture and depth to the arrangements. This is grown-up music, which doesn't fit conveniently into any of the usual slots. But the thread that brings the styles together is Faber's delivery.
