Room To Pogo has morphed, and what was once a jam band is no more. Gone are Teague Alexy with his folk/funk guitar, Chad Bloodsin with his guitar, Zach Kahman with his hand drums and Kyle Sulerved with his horn. Only Jason Wussow is left of the original members. "This is more of a rock project, with more drive. It's what I've been looking for," Wussow says. "As members changed, different ideas came with different people. With this band, everyone is meticulous about what they want and how they do it."
No Room To Pogo is now Wussow on guitar and vocals, Sara Softich on fiddle and vocals, Chuck Watson on drums, George Elsworth on bass and Steve Isackson on guitar. For more than a year, Wussow and Isackson had collaborated on guitars. Wussow and Softich also shared the stage in different projects. But when Watson joined with his drum set, his structured, more dominant beats provided the biggest impetus to change No Room To Pogo.
The current lineup has just finished a new compact disc, Speed, which Wussow says is the first album he's ever written that he wants critically reviewed. He said he's always had a level of uncertainty with past albums and only released them because people kept asking for No Room To Pogo music that they could take home.
No Room To Pogo performs an acoustic show as well as an amplified show to get people dancing. The musicians want to be able to adapt their sound to the particular crowd or venue.
