Cajun - Putumayo journeys to bayous of southwest Louisiana for this joyous collection of Cajun party music.
Putumayo journeys to the bayous of Louisiana for this joyous collection of French-American party music. The follow-up to 1999's
Zydeco, one of the best-selling albums in Putumayo's history,
Cajun focuses on another fascinating genre Louisiana music. Cajun appeals to fans of folk, country, Americana and world music.
Today's Cajuns trace their roots to the early French-speaking colonists of Acadia, in what is now Nova Scotia, Canada. Forced out of the region by the British in 1755, the Acadians (who became known as Cajuns) migrated to Louisiana, bringing with them their music, traditions, and language. The gutsy reels and tantalizing two-steps of Cajun music have filled barn dances for years, and have had an indelible impact on the face of Louisiana's music.
Cajun celebrates America's own world music and is an energetic, homegrown collection that is sure to please anyone who loves great party music. The contagious melodies and rhythms of Cajun music will have people dancing the night away, or as they say in Cajun country, "Laissez les bon temps roulez!"
